The most populous residential neighborhood in Washington, D.C., Capitol Hill contains approximately 35,000 residents in two square miles. The Capitol Hill Historic District surrounds the Capitol building, and it is on the National Register of Historic Places. Capitol Hill is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the United States, and its residents are some of the most educated people in the country. Ambassadors, federal judges, and intelligence analysts live and work on Capitol Hill.
 
Capitol Hill is also one of the most influential areas of Washington, D.C. Lobbyists, senators, lawyers, and high-level government employees enjoy the bars, restaurants, and social clubs on Capitol Hill. Important political institutions such as the Library of Congress and the Supreme Court are on Capitol Hill. Located east of the Capitol building, Capitol Hill is a beautiful neighborhood with vibrant areas such as Barracks Row, which features many restaurants. Several row houses constructed in the 18th and 19th centuries line the streets in Capitol Hill.
 
Capitol Hill has a fantastic sense of community, and residents enjoy being part of this iconic neighborhood. Educated congressional staffers and professionals can often be found debating political ideas at one of the many restaurants and bars in the area. Also, the community is known for excellent coffee shops and upscale restaurants. Real estate in Capitol Hill is diverse, and many row houses and apartment complexes are located throughout the neighborhood.

The dining room offers four-course meals, but diners who do not have an appetite can enjoy unique cocktails at the bar. Rose’s Luxury serves small plates of New American cuisine in a beautiful townhouse with a bar upstairs.
 
Eastern Market has been a staple of Capitol Hill life since 1873. Residents can visit Eastern Market to search for fresh produce, community events, and handmade goods. Boone Gallery and Community Studio are one of the best art galleries and studios on Capitol Hill. Local artists display their works on the walls of this fantastic gallery.
 

Things to Do

The Bartholdi Fountain and Gardens inside the United States Botanic Garden is a beautiful garden where anyone can relax and enjoy the plants and flowers. Visit the Library of Congress and explore the fantastic reading room. Enjoy running and walking in Stanton Park, a four-acre park containing a statue of the revolutionary figure Nathanael Greene. Playgrounds, sidewalks, and beautiful trees are located throughout Stanton Park.
